Statue Of Liberty

Lady Liberty, as the statue is sometimes called, was a gift from the French memory the American Revolution.

Between 1820 and 1920, about 34 million people immigrated to the United States. For many immigants, their first look of Amercia was the Statue of Liberty in New York.

Emma Lazarus who is a Jewish American poet saw the statue as a flashing light to the world.

She wrote a poem which was carved on the platform until this day.

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. -There are 25 windows in the crwon, which symbolize 25 gemstones found on the earth.
