The studies between 2003-2005 at SCDCB- Sercaia, Brasov district were conducted in order to establish the evolution of psoroptic mange in buffaloes and regarding this etiopathogenesis, epidemiology and immunology. Psoroptic mange was induced by Psoroptes ovis, with different body measures for males (smaller) and females (bigger) was present in 9, 72% (2003-2004) and 6, 43% (2004-2005) in the entire heard (257-264 animals) only in adult animals (5-13years). The body regions most affected were: the sacral region, the sacro-coccigian region, the glutean region, the coxal tuberosity region and the dorso -lumbar region.
Histologically, there were identified: crusts, the destruction of the keratin layer; large spaces between the derma layers, congestion and edema in the papillary derma. There more noticed same differences in the leukocyte formula, between the healthy animals (16, 8A?5, 54% eosinophyles) and the infected ones (4, 2A?2, 85% eosinophyles). The globulin values more 4, 2 times higher in buffaloes with psoroptes mange, than in the healthy ones.
The serum lysozim was higher in healthy animals (0, 68A?0, 82I 1/4 g/ml) than in the infected ones (0, 3A? 0, 22 I 1/4 g/ml). The immunodifusion showed a characteristic reaction for one sample from animals with psoroptic mange, when it was used the psoroptes antigen with a quality of proteins of 12, 5 mg/ml. In the second faze, the serum from the animals with maximum risk of infestation has induce precipitation when put in contact with the concentrated psoroptic antigen. The lactoserum from adult buffaloes has showed precipitation reactions when put in contact with both types of antigen: concentrated one 1275 mg/ml total protein and the diluted one 2, 7 mg/ml total protein.
The descriptive epidemiological analysis of the psoroptic mange in buffaloes from SCDCB Sercaia between 2003-2005 showed that there are 2 categories of animals: with maximal infestation risk - adult animals 5-13 years of age and with minimal infestation risk - the other age range.
