What would life be without music? The world would be a very quiet place. Music is in many ways the fabric of our lives and the definition of society. It is a reminder of how things once were, an indication of how things are, and a view of where society is headed. Music is a direct reflection of the picture of society. Music can be a way to deliver messages, a poetic medium, a fine art, or nothing more than a source of entertainment. Music is the perfect art and our lives would not be complete without it.

Everybody knows what music is but most people underestimate the value and power music has in our everyday lives. Whether they know it or not music plays a vital role in the lives of people today. Music is a very efficient tool that influences and assists people, it plays a huge part in today's society.

What is so special about rock music and what makes millions of people of different ages, cultural and educational backgrounds fall in love with its sound? I believe the answer is that the distinguishing characteristic of rock is the freedom of thought, as well as choice given to people who love it. The philosophy behind rock music is deep enough but, at the same time, is open to leave the rock lovers room for creativity and personal emotions.

In the late 70's and early 80's, there was a new wave of music that was hitting the world. This was known as the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. In 1981, metal was hit by a destructive blow that no one could recover from. Metallica started serving its beautiful creation known as thrash metal. Aggression and speed was the name of the game. The faster and harder it was, the better.

Pointing the finger at any one band and saying that they are the geniuses that created thrash metal is not an easy job. But of course pointing at Metallica would be a great start.
