Argument

As a child, I have always been fascinated by the American culture and history. As I grew up, I started to search for everything that means "the United States of America". This is how I found out about Abraham Lincoln. During my lectures I remained blocked on his courage and his loyalty to the country.

Abraham Lincoln was a very powerful man, even if he did not know that from his childhood. He had to grow up without his mother, because when he was nine years old, his mother was poisoned and she died. This fact strengthened my respect for his life and for his easiness of continue life. Outside there are hundred of children in the same situation in which Lincoln was, but only a few manage to achieve there goals during life, because most of them have to work hard to keep the food on the table for their younger sisters and brothers.

I was impressed by his abilities of leadership that he managed to develop in the XIXth century and that's the main reason that made me choose him, the 16th president of the U.S., as subject for my English Certificate.

Abraham Lincoln is regarded as one of America's greatest heroes due to both his incredible impact on the nation and his unique appeal. He is a remarkable story of the rise from humble beginnings to achieve the highest office in the land; then, a sudden and tragic death at a time when his country needed him most to complete the great task remaining before the nation. Lincoln's distinctively human and personality and historical role as savior of the Union and emancipator of the slaves creates a legacy that endures. His eloquence of democracy and his insistence that the Union was worth saving embody the ideals of self-government that all nations strive to achieve.

Alike all the others presidents of the United States, Abraham Lincoln was also judged by people that have no idea about how difficult it was to live in times where technology and industries have not yet been developed. Critics and writers have written about his life from many points of view. In my paper, I will present only Abraham Lincoln- The Honest Abe point of view, which is the true point of view and the one that the best critics and writers wrote about. The other ones are so irrational that I can not even write about, because people judged, judge and they will judge forever the humans that they are jealous on.
